How to Backup the Silent Partner Desktop
Step 1:
Go to the opening screen (aka the “green screen”) and click on the “Back up data files” button. [You can also access the backup feature through Maintenance => Backup/Restore => Backup Files]

Step 2:
You will now have a window pop up giving you three options:

- “Save backup” saves the backup to the designated file location. This option simply creates a backup file in the location specified.
- “Save backup and upload to Silent Partner Software” saves the backup to the designated file location and also automatically uploads and stores a copy of your data onto our ftp site. This can be accessed only by our authorized personnel. (Recommended)
- “Upload to Silent Partner Software; erase when done” saves the backup onto our ftp site only. No file will be kept on your local computer.
Silent Partner automatically creates a new file directory using today’s date for easy archiving and future lookup. You may change the location of this backup if you like by clicking on the file folder icon.
Step 3:
After making your selection above and pressing “OK” the backup will be created. Once it is finished the screen below will be displayed. Click “OK”

Step 4:
At this point Silent Partner will attempt to upload to Silent Partner Software’s servers.


The screen above shows confirmation that your backup has been successfully uploaded to Silent Partner Software’s servers.
Step 5:

This message shows that an email has been sent out informing Silent Partner Software that you’ve uploaded a new backup of your data.
And you’re done!

Note:

If you receive the message above there is no need to worry, your backup has been safely uploaded to Silent Partner Software’s servers. This message sometimes occurs due to firewalls in place and is simply saying that there was no email confirmation sent out to Silent Partner Software, but your data is safe.
